HAWAIʻI FIRST

Disastrous Response

Three days ago, before Kauai got demolished, I published a post
“On the Disaster of Disaster Recovery.”

https://hawaiifirst.blog/2026/09/06/on-the-disaster-of-disaster-recovery/

Some of you may have seen it.

But only three people have shown an interest in its contents:

  • One State Rep
  • One former State Senator
  • One former Candidate for State Representative

Not a groundswell of interest.
(But I did get a form letter back from the governor.)

I hope the people of Hawaiʻi like the status quo.

Cuzʻ thatʻs all we are gonna get.

Democrats ain’t gonna change it

Republicans ainʻt gonna change it.

And if you ainʻt gonna try change it . . .

. . . nobody is gonna take responsibility, and nothing will change.

People on Kauai wonʻt be able to read this post for awhile. Given the current state of disaster recovery, I suspect Kauai will receive the same level of support as Lahaina, Kaʻū, Nāʻālehu, South Kona, Oʻahu…which means more local people will leave the islands and more wealthy people from California and Japan will buy the land.

Over the next few days and weeks we will see cheerful announcements of millions of dollars in recovery money. And then it will go dark.

No reporting. No accountability.

You have been warned.
